Residential Pest Control Inspections Avon Park, Florida

Hi, everyone! Welcome to Bug Talk. I’m
your host Ryan Haynes. Today we are
going to be talking about residential pest
control inspections.

Spring in Florida has arrived and
summer is just around the corner.
Students are looking forward to their last
few weeks of school and planning their
summer activities. Whether it’s taking a
break and visiting the beach or spending
afternoons floating in the pool, the warm
weather of summer is fantastic.
Students may be looking forward to a
relaxing summer but not everyone will
get to dip their toes in the water.

Many families plan trips during this time
of the year to take a break and
reconnect. One group that will not be
taking a break or relaxing this summer is
pests in or around your home. As the
Florida temperature rises, so does the
bug activity.

Some pests you may see in or around
your home include mosquitoes, palmetto
bugs, ants and even termites to name a
few. Termites tend to swarm in spring
but can continue during other seasons
of the year. Waking up to find a swarm
of Subterranean or Drywood termites in
your home is alarming.

Palmetto bugs are large cockroaches
that prefer a warm moist climate. As the
temperature continues to rise more
areas around homes become desirable
for palmetto bugs.

The heat can also increase insect
activity. Spiders will be attracted to the
influx of insects. This is true for non
venomous and venomous spiders such
as the brown recluse and black widow.
Their bites can be very painful and
require medical attention.

Fleas and ticks are more prevalent
during the warmer months of the year
creating problems for pet owners. As
more families spend time outdoors
enjoying the long hours of summer they
can be exposed to other pests like
mosquitoes. More rain, standing water
and warm temperatures are the perfect
conditions for mosquitos to thrive. Not
only is being bitten by mosquitoes
annoying, but it can lead to other
diseases too.

Warm weather pests do not just invade
our homes but our lawns too. Fire ants
can become more aggressive in the
heat. Their bites can be very painful for
people and pets that stumble upon a fire
ant nest. Chinch bugs can cause
damage to St. Augustine grass. Looking
at dead patches of grass is not how
many people envision spending their
time outdoors enjoying a barbeque.

With all of the potential pest issues
during the warmer months of the year
what can you do? One thing we
recommend is to have a residential pest
control inspection. During this
inspection, a pest control professional
will identify specific pest issues and
point out areas to be addressed in order
to avoid an infestation.

The pest control specialists will work
with you to create a treatment plan for
any specific issues found during the
inspection. If you don’t want any
uninvited guests to your summer
festivities be sure to give us a call.
Thanks for joining us today. We will see
you next time. Remember, if it crawls or
flies, we’re your guys!
